For many years, we dreamed of owning land where we could farm, become more self-reliant, and nourish our community. In 2021, that dream became a reality when we purchased 14 acres of beautiful forest and a charming 1940s home in the North Grosvenordale village of Thompson, CT. This land is not only a place to preserve wildlife habitat and local agriculture but also a cornerstone for fostering meaningful connections within our community, where we can share resources, knowledge, and support one another. Guided by our spiritual values, we are committed to being responsible stewards of this land, practicing organic, sustainable farming methods, and living in harmony with nature. Above all, we aim to create a space where people can come together, learn, and support each other in their shared journey toward sustainability and well-being.

Barney arrived at the farm as a tiny kitten in November 2021. Ray had intended for him to be a barn cat, but he was so small that he couldn’t be outside during the winter. Instead, he became Tracy’s baby and never quite made it to the barn.
During the winter, Barney can be found napping by the wood stove, and in the summer, he enjoys watching the birds from the windows. He loves to play fetch and snuggle with his dad. Although he’s very shy and you’ll likely never meet him, he’s completely devoted to his mom and dad—though he definitely doesn't get along with Peach!
Since Barney wasn't out patrolling the barn, the mice started getting into the feed, and predators were terrorizing our birds. We were in dire need of a big, tough barn cat!
So, in October 2024, Ray brought home Peach, an experienced outdoor barn cat from a friend's farm.
Peach quickly settled in, chasing away the rodents and predators. He's also become a bit of a magical labyrinth cat and a friendly, affectionate companion to all who visit Bearfoot Farm. Unfortunately, Barney isn't too thrilled with his presence.
